Redistricting

The Imperial Community College District has commenced work that will redistrict Trustee areas to conform to changes as found in the 2020 Census. Public participation in the redistricting process is essential, and this webpage is intended to provide updates on the process, share opportunities for public participation, and provide a way to submit comments and questions. The ICCD Board voted July 21 to establish a seven-member Redistricting Advisory Committee to study and recommend updated draft boundaries for the Trustee areas based on results of the 2020 Census.
The Committee will meet over a five month period to work with Board of Trustees as well as a demographer, legal counsel and IVC staff as they receive public input. The Committee will review and make recommendations regarding draft maps, communities of interest, and other important issues, all culminating with the Imperial Community College District Board of Trustees adopting a final map by the mandated March 1, 2022 deadline.
The present calendar projects the Board approve the new districts at its January 19, 2022, board meeting. However, this schedule and the one the follows is dependent upon timely release of census data.
